The poster competition titled “Refugees & IDPs”, which will be held for the first time in the Spring Semester of the 2023-2024 Academic Year, is organized by Istanbul Arel University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations, Istanbul Arel University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Graphic Design, Istanbul Arel University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Visual Communication Design, Istanbul Arel University Peace Studies Student Club, Arel USAM, International Relations Student Club, International Student Club.
While the number of individuals forcibly displaced due to conflict, violence and persecution has reached record levels at the global level, Turkiye pursues to be the country hosting the highest number of refugees in the world. Turkiye is a country that carries out legal and institutional reforms in order to establish an effective national asylum system in accordance with international standards, and is a party to a series of conventions and protocols that determine the rights, obligations and procedures of individuals granted temporary protection. The main objective of the poster competition held in this context is to accept the social and human aspects of this treatment for individuals who are asylum seekers or displaced for various reasons against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, taking into account the principle of people benefiting from the main freedoms and human rights without discrimination, to adopt the importance of the issue to young generations and to increase the level of knowledge. Moreover, the works to be ranked are exhibited in all exhibitions and fairs to be organized by Istanbul Arel University in order to convey this awareness to young generations and citizens.
